Equinox Blue is a collection of musicians based in Bristol, Bath and Oxford.  We have a range of experience which includes musical training at some of the country's best colleges and academies along with huge experience playing at events across the UK.

We play music together a great deal and have two members for each instrument so that we can always put the perfect line-up together for you.

Nick is usually on guitar or percussion and he has played at events ranging from jazz festivals to Glastonbury 2010 & 2011.

 

John and Andy are our two main pianists.  John had training with the great Oscar Peterson and even played for Ella Fitzgerald once.  Andy is one of the country's finest pianists with two albums to his name - the most recent released last year.

 

Jon and Greg are both amazing double bass players - Greg having just completed his Masters degree in Jazz and Jon having played at a number of international events over the last year.

 

We have several great musicians who play saxophone and trumpet with us and these include guys who have played with the likes of Noel Gallagher, Kasabian, Scissor Sisters and many more.

 

And in terms of percussion and/or drums we work with some great players who are experienced at playing jazz, latin, swing and funk. 

Answers to common questions

Equipment - We bring all the equipment we need and all we require is some electricity close to us.  Our equipment is all top professional equipment - the keyboards, for example, all have perfect sound samples of pianos such as Steinbergs and are what leading bands would use live.  We will discuss things like dress code with you.  Ask us for Public Liability Insurance and a PAT test if required.

Outside - We can play outside but would require it to be dry (including rain and dew) and would need to discuss shelter for our equipment and possibly all the musicians too.

Volume - We can play very quietly or quite loudly depending on your requirements - we will always liaise with you over the volume and style of the music and can vary it easily on the day.

Booking - If you book us we will email you a booking agreement with all the details including deposit and payment details.  You will have a clear point of contact from the moment you contact us with an email, telephone number and address to contact.

We are both professional and very friendly and we always aim to make sure that you LOVE the music and have a brilliant time.

The quartet is good for medium to large venues - if you would like something a little more intimate then we can recommend the duo or trio.  Contact us for options.

Prices

The price of the band is dependent on a range of factors including the day of the week, the time of the year, how long you would like us to be with you and the location of the venue.  

We have performed at venues ranging from gardens to hotels to festivals - this could be for less than an hour or we can be with you for several hours.

Typical prices range from £200 to £400 for a solo pianist, £400 to £600 for a duo, £500 to £800 for a trio and £700 to £1000 for a quartet.
